The site is to be renamed Dartford Park and the development agreement envisages up to 2 million sf of new space including 500,000 sf of warehousing/distribution along with offices, industrial units and a technology park on 18 acres. There is also room for hotel and leisure uses and up to 1,500 new homes in the heart of the Thames Gateway area, earmarked by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott for a massive surge in housing development.
To open up the site for development up to £70 million ($115 million) of investment in infrastructure will be required. Eventually, the site will be served by North Kent's proposed Fastrack rapid transit system, linking it directly to the Channel Tunnel station at nearby Ebbsfleet.
