Gateway Lumber relocated about eight months ago to a new facility, Mark Lehman of the Houston office of Grubb & Ellis Co. tells GlobeSt.com. He represented Gateway in the sale of the one-acre property.

The asking price was $495,000 on a property assessed at $285,400 by the Harris County Appraisal District. Lehman wouldn't say how close to the asking price that he got for the seller. He did say several contracts had fallen out through the marketing period until the church's offer surfaced.

Rehab money will be needed for the conversion, but Lehman isn't sure just how much the new owner intends to spend. The 4,000-sf showroom and two-story office will be converted into the main chapel. A playground also will be added.

Lehman says the church was interested in the property because it is close to some of the city's Hispanic communities. Iglesia Pentecostes was represented by Napoleon Palacios of American Commercial Real Estate of Houston.
