Black formerly was with the North Los Angeles office of Cushman & Wakefield, where he spent 12 years as a specialist in national corporate accounts and industrial space, most recently as an executive director. Before that, he was with Told Partners for five years.
A large part of Black's role will be "to grow our industrial-based business and strengthen our corporate service accounts in Southern California," including the area from North Los Angeles County into Santa Barbara, says Maury Gentile of Newmark's LA office. Gentile and Rick Merritt are managing principals in the LA office while Myron Galchutt is managing principal in Orange County, heading the Orange County and San Diego markets.
Black tells GlobeSt.com that a big part of his job will be recruitment to help build the Newmark presence in Southern California. Black, who was involved in more than 10 million sf of transactions in the past eight years, says that although his roots are in industrial and R&D space, he has spent much time in recent years working on office deals as well and serving national corporate accounts.
Black was the top producer for the past 10 years in the Cushman &Wakefield LA North office, top-producing industrial/R&D broker for its Western Region for 1998 through 2001 and No. 2 nationally in industrial in 2001. He was named executive director last year.
