In December 2002 alone, GVA Grimley's investment team committed to over £50 million ($80 million) of deals for Danish syndication companies. The Danish investors are particularly keen on retail warehousing and leisure properties and the largest recent deal was the £7.7 million ($11 million) purchase of a 63,862-sf retail warehouse unit in Swansea, South Wales, let to B&Q for a further 16 years.
Mark Frampton, an associate with GVA Grimley's investment team, said: "The deals are packaged by syndication companies who establish single purpose property vehicles for the investors. The structure of UK leases is highly attractive and this, combined with a low interest rate environment, has enabled Danish investors to be increasingly acquisitive in the UK over the last 12 months."
