To that end, Julie Burns, deputy chief of staff to city Mayor Thomas M. Menino, tells GlobeSt.com that the committee is considering taking some space at 226 Causeway, a 12-story building that is currently under construction. The mixed-use project will feature a mix of residential units, office space and retail use.

Burns emphasizes that the city has not yet seen a lease proposal but she acknowledges that the committee has done a walk-through of the space. If a deal is signed, the lease would be good news for the building's developer, Intercontinental Real Estate Corp., which is bringing the project into a market that is dealing with vacancy rates in the city in the 15% range.
