Lerner New York closed its Vancouver location Jan. 28 following the expiration of its lease, store officials say. The company is in a restructuring mode that includes a name change to New York & Co. Private investors recently bought the chain and are re-branding the nationwide chain, according to company documents. The New York-based chain has 463 stores.
The chain's previous parent company, Limited Brands, operates such retailers as Victoria¹s Secret and Bath & Body Works.
Lerner New York was a fixture in the mall, opening in the then-Vancouver Mall in 1977. Mall officials are negotiating with several possible tenants to fill more than 10,000 sf of empty ground-level space created by the closure.
