Developer Silverman Cos. is building the addition of more than 160 new unitsin seven new buildings. The new $16 million expansion will be built on morethan 11 acres, and will be located to the north of the existing AmericanHouse location. Both facilities will share common areas and accessorybuildings.
The property, called the "Stone" center, currently houses a single storycommunity of 85 units with efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments withkitchens. Silverman plans to build one- to three-story additions withsimilar unit sizes to the current property. Another 167 parking spaces willbe provided with the development.
Rochester House currently has 12 apartment complexes in Oakland County, withmore in Wayne, Washtenaw and Macomb County, that primarily serve elderlyneeds. The apartments encourage independent lifestyles, but do offerpersonal services if needed.
