The completed value of the town center is estimated between $130 million and $150 million, he tells GlobeSt.com.The center already has drawn interest for a 180,000-sf Super Target, he says. That would serve as a catalyst for the retail portion, he notes.
The high-visibility project would need to be pedestrian friendly and transit-oriented that would take advantage of being the only location along US 36, where a railroad connection crosses the highway.This is the proposed site of a future commuter rail station that could also serve bus rapid transit along US 36, the corridor between Denver and Boulder.
The city will be assembling the properties on the property. The deadline for responding is March 10 and the city plans to make its decision in April.
"Westminster takes an extra level of care in creating its public buildings and we encourage developers to pursue high-quality design in the city's private buildings as well," Miller says.
The city has developed a concept site plan for the center and has completed preliminary engineering estimates. The city has sent the RFP to 40 developers nationwide. Others can access it at the city's Web site at www.ci.westminster.co.us.
