At the same time, Cousins is moving R. Dary Stone, president of the firm's Texas operations, into a vice chairman's slot to focus on building strategic relationships and finding new business. Stone will remain based in Dallas where Cousins bought out Stone's interest in Cousins Stone LP in 2000 and 2001 and renamed the company Cousins Property Services LP.

John S. McColl, a senior vice president in Atlanta, will take over the Texas operations which include office development, leasing and third-party services. McColl reports to office division president Craig B. Jones. Stone reports to Thomas Bell, Cousins' president/CEO.

Nelson, vice president/management at General Growth Properties, will oversee Cousins' existing retail portfolio along with its established and new joint venture partnerships, and provide expertise on acquisitions, dispositions and development projects.

At General Growth, Nelson directed a 30-asset portfolio with a total net operating income of $395 million. Nelson reports to Joel Murphy, president of Cousins' retail division.
