The stores are the first of 12 to open in Michigan by May 1 in former Penske outlets at Kmart locations. The other six stores are opening in Lake Orion, Waterford, St. Clair Shores, Sterling Heights, Troy and Ypsilanti.
"We feel that our stores are a perfect match for the Motor City," saidStephen Wilson, president of U.S. Autocare LLC in Dearborn Heights.
Founded in 1962, Big O Tires is based in Englewood, CO and has more than582 stores in the United States and Canada.
Penske pulled its 600 auto repair stores out of Kmart after the companydeclared bankruptcy last year.
