Mary Niffin, spokeswoman for the company, said tremendous growth over the past three years brought on the need for AAMG to move from its current location to a larger facility. To accommodate the company's expected continued growth over the coming years, the building has expansion capabilities to 295,000 square feet, Niffin said.
Initially, a total of 1,200 employees will move into AAMG's new headquarters at its completion in July 2004, said company officials.AAMG's new headquarters will feature four office wings expanding froma two-story atrium center. The atrium will lend a park-likeatmosphere to the building, an extension of the nature infusedgrounds.
The company currently houses most of the employees in the 777 Building in Ann Arbor, and also houses the offices of a sister firm, Interfirst Wholesale Lending, Niffin told GlobeSt.com."We have all these people here, plus others in different offices in the area because we can't fit them all here," Niffin said. "We just need a larger area."
She also said Avis Farms is building the facility to suit ABN's needs, and will lease the facility to the mortgage firm. The company only had one wish in the move, to stay in the Ann Arbor area, Niffin said. Pittsfield surrounds Ann Arbor.
"It's the only place that has everything we need. It's a great city to work in," she said.Trish Kalmbach, Avis Farms President, said the township worked hard to help bring in the project. The architect for the project is the Heil Partnership, and the construction company is J.S. Vig.
