"Steve has made a major contribution to ProLogis in the nearly 10 years he has been part of our team," says K. Dane Brooksher, chairman and CEO for ProLogis. " His proven leadership, industry experience and customer relationship skills will help him build upon the market leading position we have in Europe today."
Brooksher says Watson built the company's European business unit into a "truly world-class operation of over 200 European nationals." Watson was in Europe for the past four years.
Gary Anderson, currently market officer in New Jersey, has been promoted to regional director for capital deployment, replacing Steve Meyer. Anderson has held several key positions for ProLogis, including market officer for the Pacific Northwest and Western Mexico, where he opened new markets in Tijuana and Juarez.
The company also announced that Jeffrey H. Schwartz, currently president and COO for ProLogis Asia, has been promoted to the additional position of president of international operations. Schwartz will work directly with Brooksher to develop global strategy for continued growth in major world markets. In addition to his role as chief operating officer - Asia, Schwartz will have responsibility for oversight of all international operations and will assume the chairmanship of the International Investment Committee of ProLogis.
Schwartz has led every major international expansion for ProLogis. He opened Mexico in 1996; he launched our European business in 1997, which has grown to be the largest Pan-European real estate operation in Europe.
In 2002, he started ProLogis' business in Japan and was promoted to president and chief operating officer for Asia. His pioneering efforts have been a major contribution to the success of the company's global strategy, Brooksher says.
"One of ProLogis' key success factors has been our ability to follow customers to new regions," says Brooksher. "With Jeff's added responsibilities we will be able to continue to serve the global expansion needs of our customers.
