Signage was an issue with both casino projects. Commissioners said casino signs must not detract from nearby street and highway signs. A video board and streaming reader boards in the MotorCity plan should not be allowed, Commissioners said. The city-casino agreement requires the expansions to be completed by thetime of the Super Bowl, to be held at Detroit's new Ford Field in early2006.
Altogether, the three temporary casinos in Detroit haveproposed plans to build permanent sites at more than $1.5 billion.
