The community development commission pulled its designation of Armitage California Shopping Center LLC as developer after it was learned one of the parties in the venture failed to disclose a partnership, which could have allowed him to "flip" his interest in the project.

"This project has dragged on for three-and-a-half years. There was a lot of monkey business with that project," says 35th Ward Alderman Vilma Colom. She urges the department of planning and development to set start dates and completion deadlines on projects involving city-owned land, as well as the city being able to take back the property from unproductive developers.

The city hopes to sell the 49,050-sf Logan Square site for $2.455 million. Proposals are due June 2.

The first developer, City Life LLC, could not close on the sale, according to the department of planning and development. Armitage California Shopping Center, LLC took over last May.

The site is four blocks south of a Chicago Transit Authority Blue Line elevated stop.
