Coffey has been with the company for 22 years. He most recently was executive vice president and CFO of WestCoast Hospitality and president of WestCoast Hotels. Prior to that, he was vice president and COO from 1990 to 1998. As president of WestCoast Hotels, Coffey lead the development efforts of the company in new franchise development, acquisitions, investment and construction.

Coffey's understanding of the company both from a financial and operational perspective make him especially well equipped to lead the coming through the coming years, according to Ronald Taylor, director of West Coast Hospitality and chairman of the CEO search committee.

A source at WestCoast could not immediately be reached for comment about exactly when Barbieri will step down from the post and hand the reigns fully to Coffey. The announcement in early March indicated he would relinquish control as soon as a successor was found.

WestCoast Hospitality owns, manages and franchises hotels throughout the Western United States. The Company owns the trademarks of Red Lion Hotels and WestCoast Hotels, which focus on serving business, convention and leisure travelers in first, second and third tier markets.
