"By collaborating at every level of government and partnering with theprivate sector, we're making strategic transportation investments that willhelp drive nearly $2 billion in private sector development and create orretain more than 7,000 jobs," said Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
The projects are in Dickinson, Kent, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, Ottawa,Sanilac, and Washtenaw counties.
The improvements will help accommodate increased traffic andprovide more efficient commercial routes for 10 expanding private firms,including the big three automakers.
The projects include Rubber Enterprises, which is building four newfacilities in Imlay City, a $22 million, 110,000-sf expansion to RequestFoods facility in Ottawa County, a new technical campus for Johnson ControlsInc. in Salem Township and the $1.1 billion expansion, including a neweight-story office tower, at its Warren Technical Center.
