Brad Vickrey, president of the Downtown Los Angeles-based non-profit association, says growing numbers of office and retail brokers have expressed "a strong desire" to join the association, which provides services such as a multiple listing service and standardized lease forms, along with a number of member benefits. Vickrey says the opening up of the ranks to other types of brokers also increases the group's potential to increase its membership. Vickrey emphasizes that the prominence of "commercial" in the name is designed to demonstrate that the group welcomes members from all sectors of the commercial real estate industry.

According to the association's managing director, Tim Hayes, the group has already added more than 60 office members in the last few weeks and has done especially well in Orange County. He says the association is mounting an "intense recruitment of office brokers in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles County."

AIR was formed in l960 to foster knowledge, integrity and efficiency in industrial and commercial real estate brokerage. Its more than 1,300 members represent more than 300 firms in the eight-county Southern California area. Among its programs and services are its multiple listing service, standardized industrial and commercial lease forms, and purchase order forms for industrial and office real estate. Besides its headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles, AIR has an office in the City of Orange in Orange County.
