The Wixom-based developer Quadrants Inc. is the owner of the vacant land andis making the proposal.Company President Fadi Fawaz told GlobeSt.com that the township has approveda Special Assessment District to bring out water and sewer to the property, and other surrounding parcels. He added that plans for development had been put off until the SAD receivedapproval by the township board.
Township Treasurer Bill Desmond told GlobeSt.com that the district will helpthe industrial park project move forward. Desmond agreed that while someareas of township don't have utility connections to hold back growth, thehighway location is a different story."This will be a fairly new water system," Desmond said. "When you're talkingabout expensive properties along U.S. 23 or lakefront, new water and seweris a good thing."
Quadrants plans to break ground in a month or two, Fawaz said. He said spaceis planned for 22 to 25 occupants. Some properties will be built by Quadrants, and some will be sold to other developers, he said.
"We've got a lot of interest," Fawaz said. "Thirty percent of the lots areseriously spoken for. It's a great location, with great access to Ann Arbor,Flint, Lansing and the southeast area."
He said while there isn't any deals signed, there are some deposits down."We typically don't sign deals until at least the roads are put in," Fawazsaid.
The township is holding a public hearing as part of its May 7 board meetingto discuss an industrial development district for the site, said Desmond.
