"It's a commitment to their employees and the Phoenix area," Clay Wells, business development manager for the Weitz Co., which is building the firm's new facility, tells GlobeSt.com of the $9.7-million project.

Located at 7th Street and the 101 Loop in Phoenix, the new building has been designed by Butler Design Group of Phoenix. It will be constructed in two levels with a 49,600-sf first story containing a state-of-the-art data center, kitchen and break area. The second floor, comprised of 47,700 sf, will house the administrative offices and more than 20 conference rooms.

Weitz was selected more than two years ago to build the project, but the construction was put on hold following the dot-com crash, Wells said. The project was rekindled after Acxiom CEO Charles Morgan found that the company's needs and growth potential in the market would be better served by the new facility.

The Phoenix office serves clients in the Western US and Latin America. It is scheduled to be completed by mid-2004, with move-in eyed for that summer. The Little Rock, AR-based firm currently is located locally at 19621 N. 23rd Dr. in Phoenix's Valley North Business Park.
