The award recognizes and honors contractors, architects, engineers, and owners who demonstrate outstanding architectural and building achievements. Projects are evaluated on the basis of several criteria that include effective teaming between the owner, designer and contractor, quality of the overall design and construction and sensitive land use.
The State of Michigan has consolidated its Detroit offices into the CadillacPlace building, formerly known as General Motor Corp.'s headquarters. The massiverenovation project, which encompassed virtually all 15 stories of thehistoric building, was performed while the building was partially occupied.
This is the fourth consecutive year Barton Malow has been honored with theESD award. Prior award-winning projects include the company's corporateheadquarters in Southfield, Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and the St. John Hospital and Medical Center Macomb Surgery Addition in Warren, Michigan.Awards will be presented at ESD's 29th Annual Construction & Design Awards June 30 at St. John's Golf & Conference Center in Plymouth.
