The Halton Partnership was allocated £8 million ($13 million) from the European Regional Development Fund and it anticipates that this will be bolstered by a further £70 million ($110 million) in public and private sector investment to transform the site into a major regional development combining commercial, office, tourism and industrial sites.

Simon Bedford, Director of Planning and Development, Jones Lang LaSalle Manchester said: "The regeneration of the Waterfront will greatly enhance the town, improving employment, economic development opportunities and the physical appearance of the area."
