Despite great snow in Vail, however, where skiing closed on April 20, it could only muster a 37.8% occupancy rate. But, again, that was much better than Aspen, with only a 25.9% occupancy rate.

There are 39,412 room nights available in Vail, and 14,879 of them were occupied in April.

In Aspen, there are 30,210 room nights available and 7,820 of them were occupied.

Winter Park, which is operated by Canadian-based Intrawest and owned by the city of Denver, had an average hotel occupancy rate of 35.3% and average room rates of $92.55. Winter Park also ended the season with great snow.

Other resorts, which would include Telluride, Copper Mountain, Keystone, and Crested Butte, have a total of $170,210 hotel room nights available and 51,262 of them were occupied, for an overall occupancy rate of 30.1%.

The average room rates for those resorts were $133.46 per night.
