The offices are named after the major tenant, the Domino's Pizza headquarters, but the buildings also hold 40 other tenants.John Petz of Domino's Farms said the cost to build the new addition is about $20 million, and should be finished by the end of next year.
"We are pursuing the completion of what's known as the Prairie House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright," Petz said. "It's the sixth phase of development for the site, and this part is referred to as the 'connection.'"The groundbreaking will be on June 27, he said.
"We are very excited about the completion of this," Petz told GlobeSt.com. "The time was right for this development phase."He said the addition is being built as speculative space, and the company will now begin an aggressive marketing campaign to attract new tenants.
"This is an opportunity to attract new, and help existing tenants we have grow more than they have. We are engaged in a number of conversations with potential tenants, it looks encouraging. We hope to line those up in the coming months," Petz said.
The building has historically leased at the more than 90% occupancy rate, and is currently leasing at 98%, Petz said. Tenants range from the pizza chain headquarters, to bio-science companies to University of Michigan outpatient services.
Petz also noted that the connector will also make life easier for tenants."They'll be able to walk the entire length ofbuilding inside, along the main connecting hallway. Currently, the north building tenants have to travel outside to take advantage of benefits like the cafeteria," Petz said.
