Gov. Jennifer Granholm called the company to convince Boeing to make Michigan the landing spot for its 7E7 aircraft manufacturing facility."We have the skilled workforce and manufacturing prowess to ensure thatBoeing is successful in Michigan," Granholm said. "I've personally contactedthe company to share my commitment and to make our case as to why Michigan is an ideal location for this new facility."

The incentive package to convince Boeing to locate the $900 million aircraftmanufacturing facility in Michigan is valued at up to $300 million over a20-year period. Possible incentives offered to the company include local taxabatements, Single Business Tax credits, infrastructure assistance andworker training grants. The new Boeing facility is expected to employ morethan 1,200 workers.

Other states, such as Kansas, Indiana and Washington, are also vying for the facility. The company has set out criteria for its selected site, including access to a 10,000-foot long runway, nearby land of about 400 to 600 acres, access to rail and a deep water port.
