The mall is currently anchored by TJ Maxx, DeMoulas Market Basket and Fabric Place. Ed Tarallo, planning director for Woburn, tells GlobeSt.com that the developers have plans for Sports Authority to come on as a tenant if the expansion is approved. He notes that the plan would create another large space for a store, but it is still unclear who would take that spot.
While the expansion would take place on the mall property, the plan requires a special permit because of its size and the reduction in the parking ratio that it would create. Tarallo adds that the major concern is the reduction in parking.
The planning board plans on making its recommendation regarding the proposal by July 21.
