Phillip Burgess, president of Malden-based Burgess Properties, represented the seller, SWW Realty Trust, an affiliate of Cross Country Group, and procured the buyer. The property was sold for more than one million dollars.
Burgess says that the building is currently under renovation and is scheduled to be completed by this September. "Upon completion," he adds, "the building will turn into a state-of-the-art cultural center for people pertaining to Sikhism in Greater Boston."
The Gurdwara began in 1997 as a prayer service that was conducted in the houses of Sikhs who were members of the Greater Boston Sikh community. Later, the community rented premises at several locations in Somerville before purchasing this building.
