The redevelopment area is bounded roughly by 103rd and 108th streets, Cottage Grove and Maryland avenues. The redevelopment plan includes 81 properties, mostly vacant lots or vacant single-family homes and two-flats, targeted for acquisition either by private developers or the city. However, the list includes one small multifamily rental building and a commercial property formerly used as a service station.

Some of those buildings face demolition if they are deemed unsound or obsolete, according to a department of planning and development report.

Assistance in the form of tax increment financing may be available for private developers. In addition, developers could acquire city-owned properties in the redevelopment area.

The department of planning and development envisions commercial and mixed-use redevelopment along with new single-family and multifamily buildings in an area that includes historic and older buildings.
