In addition to Thorn, three prominent commercial real estate executives were lauded as Volunteer Partners of the Year.

"I'm blown away," said Edward Barsocchi, a VP of Lowe Enterprises, when he received his award.

Barry Benware, president of Global Pacific Properties, also received the award. Benware was involved in redevelopment efforts for the Colorado Convention Center and is a member of the Convention Center Advisory Committee. He also is involved with the Denver Union Station redevelopment.

The third person named a Volunteer Partner was Charles Knight, president of AmeriVest Properties Inc. AmeriVest is the only national office REIT that exclusively serves small and medium-sized tenants. For the past two years, Knight has served as chairman of the Partnership's Transportation Council. Knight says he receives far more from the Partnership than he gives.
