WorldChain Inc., based in Fremont, CA, will move in Oct. 1, Dan Egger in the Houston office of Jones Lang LaSalle tells GlobeSt.com. The firm is consolidating a data center and administrative functions into an office building with a reputation for its high-tech capacity. Finish-out construction is underway.
For the last three years, WorldChain has housed its data center in the office of Level 3 Communications Inc. at 12001 North Freeway while the admin office was elsewhere in Houston. Egger says 1301 Fannin won the deal because its high-tech infrastructure could support WorldChain's data center.
Rick Hazard of Hartley Realty Group in Houston represented WorldChain. The building owner, San Diego-based Shidler Group, had Egger and Beverly Burke, also with Jones Lang LaSalle in Houston, bargain its terms.
The 27-floor, mixed-use tower contains 784,143 sf, outfitted with multiple redundancy in all mechanical systems and 24-hour manned security. The tenant roster includes ExxonMobil, Pennzoil, AT&T and MCI.
