The project includes $6 million of interior lobby renovations as well as a $9 million of exterior and landscaping remodeling, according to Stephen Montoya, project manager for Santa Fe Springs-based Matt Construction. The remodeling is scheduled for completion late this year, with the center to continue operating throughout construction.
The Colorado Center development occupies an entire city block bounded by Broadway Street to the north, 26th Street to the east, Colorado Avenue to the south, and Cloverfield Boulevard to the west. It includes six office buildings around a central courtyard, along with a three-acre park at the northeast corner of the site.
Designed by Gensler Architects, the interior portion of the project will include the renovation of the parking and ground floor lobbies, the retail storefronts and the food court, along with numerous other improvements. Exterior renovations will include new concrete walls, landscaping designed by Pamela Burton and Associates, and a series of other upgrades.
