US Sen. Ben Nighthorse, R-CO, added the $10 million in funding for Children's Hospital to the fiscal year 2004 Defense Appropriations Bill. The bill already has received the blessings of the committee and is expected to be debated on the Senate floor in the coming weeks.

Fitzsimons, a former Army hospital where President Eisenhower was treated after a heart attack, is being developed into a $4.5 billion medical and biotech center.

It's expected to cost about $450 million for Children's Hospital to move to Fitzsimons.

So far, the Children's Hospital Foundation has raised about $80 million.
