Locating a regional office in this northwest suburb puts Seefried Properties near its first project in the market, a 36,000-sf build-to-suit freight transfer facility for ABF Freight System next to O'Hare International Airport. Seefried Properties is teaming with San Francisco-based AMB Property Corp. on the $6.9-million project at 400 E. Touhy Ave., less than a mile from its office at 1011 E. Touhy Ave. President and CEO Ferdinand Seefried adds his company is targeting the O'Hare submarket, which according to Grubb & Ellis research has an 8.3% vacancy rate with 191,356 sf under construction, for US and European customers.
However, Phillips says he is looking at several other submarkets for development and redevelopment opportunities, and vows to cooperate with brokers. "I think Chicago's industrial brokerage community will find Seefried broker-friendly, uncomplicated and very responsive," he says.
Phillips has overseen the development of five million sf of speculative and build-to-suit manufacturing and distribution facilities worth $400 million. "Craig Phillips knows the market and has a strong network of industrial brokers, lenders, construction specialists and consultants to help build our presence in Chicago," Seefried says.
