Jack Kappe has joined the firm as vice president and asset manager from Pacifica Capital Group. Kappe, who also held positions with The Boston Consulting Group and Coopers & Lybrand, will be responsible for managing Buchanan Street investments.

Tammy Harpster, a new assistant vice president at the firm, will work in asset management in the underwriting, closing and management of the Buchanan investment portfolio. She was previously with DPR Construction, where she managed more than $100 million in high-tech development projects.

Greg Simon, also a new assistant vice president, will be responsible for underwriting and due diligence related to new investments. His real estate background includes positions with CB Richard Ellis and Wells Fargo Bank's Real Estate Group.

Buchanan Street Partners has capitalized more than $200 million in real estate projects in California this year. Among these were the $45 million redevelopment of Country Club Plaza regional mall repositioning in Sacramento; the $31 million development of the 221-unit Premiere at CityPlace Apartments in Long Beach; the $31 million development of the 323,000-sf Discovery Gateway Spectrum industrial project in Valencia; and the $24 million acquisition of the 296-unit Jefferson at Birchwood Apartments in Riverside.
