The urban center in the heart of Fitzsimons will anchor the north end of a 35-acre zone in the $4 billion life sciences city taking shape at Fitzsimons. The center, scheduled to open in 2006, is called Fitzsimons Commons.
The Commons will be a place for informal daily encounters among scientists, clinicians, students, business managers and visitors, and includes the site for the new University of Colorado Health Science Center's library.
The Commons will be at the confluence of the University of Colorado Health Science Center and the R&D activities within the Colorado Bioscience Park Aurora.
The Pauls Corp. will construct 487 mid-rise residential apartments with restaurants and convenience retail at the street level.
It is projected that by 2005 more than 5,000 people will work at Fitzsimons and by 2010 the workforce is expected to be at 19,000.
The second phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by 2008.
