The project, located near the intersection of Interstates 94 and 494, includes such retailers as Williams-Sonoma, Borders Books & Music, Pottery Barn, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Aeropostale, California Pizza Kitchen.

"The open-air, pedestrian-friendly design allows consumers to enjoy a sense of community while shopping, dining or just visiting in the common areas," says Scott Rehorn, partner at RED Development.

The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, located on 53 acres, is the third phase of the Arbor Lakes development that began in 1999. With the addition of The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, the total square footage of the Arbor Lakes retail development is 1.1 million sf, or about the same size as Twin Cities regional malls Ridgedale, Brookdale and Rosedale.

Tim Murnane, VP and general manager for Opus, says the size and mix of retailers in all three phases of Arbor Lakes creates a draw to the area in much the same way as regional malls attract shoppers through offering strong collections of nationally known retail names.

The 550,000-sf phase one was sold in 2001 to Kimco Realty Corp. Phase II of Arbor Lakes consisted of two additional Main Street Buildings, and was completed this summer.
