Opus officials cite Meyers' success in the field of grocery store-anchored retail development as a key reason for the promotion. Meyers has been with Opus Northwest for three years.

"John's knowledge of the business, hard work and contacts with SuperValu have resulted in two centers and, hopefully, one in St. Louis," says Jim Heller, SVP of real estate development for Opus.

Heller says that grocery store anchored retail is "highly sought after by investors." One of the projects Meyers worked on was The Crossroads of Lakeville, a retail center with 110,000 sf of space that is anchored by a Cub Foods store, the grocery store chain owned by SuperValu, the food retailer and wholesaler based in Eden Prairie, MN.

Opus Northwest is the Midwest affiliate of Opus Group, a Minneapolis-based design, construction and development firm which has 26 million sf of projects under development.
