Existing tenants in the 10-story Sunrise Centre located at 1415 E. Sunrise Blvd. are being relocated. Both demolition and groundbreaking for the new Publix are set for the first quarter of next year and the project is expected to be completed in November 2004.

S/M Retail Ltd., a partnership between Stiles Corp. and locally based Morgan Real Estate, bought the building from Sentinel Real Estate Fund of New York. Bob Breslau, president of Stiles Retail Group, handled the lease with Publix Super Markets for 20 years.

Architecture 6400 Inc., a division of Stiles Corp., is the project's designer and Stiles Construction Co., also a Stiles Corp. division, is the general contractor.

Locally based Stiles Corp. has experience developing Publix supermarkets, and the company continues to build Publix locations throughout the southeastern US. Among them is a 54,340-sf Publix that will anchor Stiles' $35 million, 200,000-plus-sf Harbor Shops shopping center in the city's 17th Street Causeway area. Architecture 6400 is also the architect on that project, which will include local and national retail tenants and some office tenants. Breslau handled that Publix lease transaction as well. Construction on Harbor Shops began this month and is expected to be completed by next fall.

This summer, Stiles also completed another Publix which anchors West Creek Commons shopping center in Coconut Creek. Architecture 6400 designed the center and Stiles Construction Co. was the project's general contractor. Stiles Retail Group handled the Publix lease for 44,000 sf. This center is owned by West Creek Commons Ltd, a Stiles partnership.
