Gallagher was formerly managing director of strategic ventures for General Electric Commercial Finance in its real estate division and before that role, held other positions at the firm. Before his tenure with General Electric, Gallagher held the post of director of mortgage lending at E.F. Hutton Life Insurance Co.
James F. Flaherty III, CEO of Health Care Property Investors, says the appointment of Gallagher is part of the "increased focus on real estate portfolio and strategic business opportunities" at the REIT, which invests directly or through joint ventures in health care facilities. As of June 30, the company's portfolio of 448 properties in 44 states consisted of 31 hospitals, 175 long-term care facilities, 126 retirement and assisted living facilities, 85 medical office buildings and 31 other health care facilities.
