Don Altwein, WorkPlaceUSA's senior vice president of project management, says the fourth floor has been redesigned to accommodate a shift of the Dallas Stars from the Southwest Sports Group's office. The group, owned by Tom Hicks, is the holding company for the Texas Rangers, the NHL's Stars and other sports-related endeavors.
Key to the project, though, was the trade-off of payment, with Dallas-based WorkPlaceUSA getting a 50-guest suite for a day which it donated, along with the food, to the children and staff at Buckner Children and Family Services so they could attend one of the season's last baseball games. The organization is one of the nation's largest social-care ministries, servicing about 70,000 people annually.
Altwein says the layout and lobby were retooled, including conference rooms and executive offices. Kimberly Surratt, interior designers and space programmer for WorkPlaceUSA, oversaw the "paper" reconfiguration along with the firm's Terry Turner.
