AstraZeneca established a presence in the Boston area in 1995. In addition to the new facility, the company has three buildings totaling 170,000 sf on this 64-acre parcel as well as a 500-car garage that was just built last year.

According to Scott Young, spokesperson for AstraZeneca, the company has a long-term master plan for this location. He tells GlobeSt.com that the plan ultimately involves one million sf in total, but he emphasizes that the plan will be phased in over the next 10 to 15 years.

AstraZeneca was formed in 1999 from a merger between Astra, a Swedish company, and Zeneca, a company based in England. The company is now headquartered in London and has offices all over the world.
