Area brokers familiar with the Cobb County submarket, just north of Downtown Atlanta, tell GlobeSt.com Cousins plans a 428,000-sf building instead of a 528,000-sf structure that one of its tenants, GE Power Systems, had initially requested. GE already occupies a 260,000-sf building at the park.

GE officials couldn't be reached at GlobeSt.com's publication deadline to confirm its expansion plans. The company relocated its corporate headquarters to Cobb County from Schenectady, NY in February 2001.

Cousins' leasing team scored a coup in May of this year when it signed locally based Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. to three separate leases totaling 214,000 sf for an estimated 10 years at the developer's 12-year-old, 687,000-sf Wildwood Plaza, as GlobeSt.com previously reported. Valued at an estimated $45 million, the transaction is believed to be the largest office leasing deal of the year in metro Atlanta, area brokers tell GlobeSt.com.
