FedEx's new distribution digs will sit in an easily accessible spot on nearly one fifth of the 524-acre business park, just off the busy I-70 and I-81 thoroughfares. It was location, location, location, that played a major role in the company's decision to locate in town. In addition to its close proximity to pivotal highway infrastructure, Hunter's Green Business Center is also near the distribution centers of many of FedEx's customers.

"Washington County is already home to a good number of industrial and distribution facilities," Cassandra H. Latimer, marketing specialist for the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission, tells GlobeSt.com. "It is quite the logistical hub for a number of companies, and certainly, FedEx's decision to come here solidifies that."

When all is said and done, the facility will handle 30,000 packages per hour, with that number increasing to 45,000 packages once the center is operating at full capacity. FedEx expects to wrap up development on this project in 2006, at which time it will create 400 new jobs for area residents.
