In the industrial deal, local dry wall contractor Tom Brooks has acquired a 43,000-sf building at 337 Freedom Ave. from Uniweb Partners for $3.5 million, according to Cushman & Wakefield.Jeff Chiate and Rick Ellison of Cushman & Wakefield, who represented the seller, note that the transaction completes a 1031 exchange for Brooks, who recently sold a smaller industrial building in Orange. Brooks was represented by David Williams of Lee & Associates in the purchase of the 18-year-old, concrete tilt-up building, which is situated between the 55 and 57 freeways. In the office building transaction, ERI, Q.I. for Roger Stone has purchased an 11,982-sf office building at 5015 Birch St. in Newport Beach from a private investor for nearly $2.7 million. George Economos, Steve Economos and Geoff DeWolf of NAI Capital Commercial represented both sides in the transaction.The single-story, freestanding building is in Newport Corporate Plaza, formerly called the Koll Limited Editions. The buyer will occupy a portion of the building and the balance will be leased.
