Clayton County commissioners will review the planned Villages of Ellenwood project for a second time at a Nov. 20 public hearing. Residents fear the venture in the northeast section of the county will transform the community's established quality of life patterns, brokers following the project tell GlobeSt.com.

Meanwhile, developers National Retail Real Estate Services and Liberty Development Group have set a June 2004 ground-breaking date for their joint undertaking that will house 2,000 residents at build out. Brokers familiar with the project tell GlobeSt.com the build-out period is expected to be five years.

In two separate developments, the county's zoning advisory group is reviewing plans from Legacy Investments Group for 249 homes on 105 acres off Stagecoach Road between Ellenwood and Rex Streets. Legacy is asking for a change in the county's comprehensive use plan that would allow up to four units per acre at the site.

Also seeking a land-use plan change is M&M Communities Corp. which plans 100 homes on 114 acres between River's Edge Golf Club and Panhandle Road near Lovejoy Street on the Flint River.
