Rock Bottom expanded its lease by 16,326 sf in the building at 248 Centennial Parkway and extended its lease by seven years.
Mack-Cali Realty Corp. owns the building.
"This lease is an excellent example of our strategy to build long-term leases with high quality tenants," says Robert Drabkin, regional director for Mack-Cali."We're pleased that Rock Bottom Restaurants has made a commitment to stay with a Mack-Cali property as it grows and expands its operations."
The company owns 90 restaurants across the country and has begun franchising Old Chicago's 16,326 sf and extending it by seven years.
Chuck McKenney and Alex Hammerstein of CRESA Partners represented Rock Bottom Restaurants in the transaction, and Drabkin and John Fefley represented Mack-Cali.
McKenney says he and Hammerstein reviewed about a dozen buildings along the northwest corridor that could easily accommodate Rock Bottom.
"At the end of the day, they decided it made the most sense to stay in their current building," McKenney tells GlobeSt.com. "Mack-Cali offered them a very aggressive deal. And it's always less disruptive if you don't have to move."
Hammerstein notes that the lease is positive absorption for corridor, plagued by about a 45% vacancy rate. "While a lot of other companies along the corridor are struggling to keep their doors open, Rock Bottom is growing," Hammerstein tells GlobeSt.com.
