10/29/03: This week, at a Power Panel roundtable discussion co-sponsored by Real Estate Media and Ernst & Young, much was made of the increased overseas outsourcing of what were once safe, US-based white-collar jobs. The panel, by the way, was co-moderated by Real Estate Media editor in chief Michael Desiato and Dale Anne Reiss, global and Americas director of Real Estate, Hospitality & Construction at E&Y. Now this is an issue that will not go away and must be dealt with from both an economic and real estate aspect. Reiss put it into simpler terms: "Outsourcing is just another word for Offshoring." As the bottom line in corporate America gets better, more jobs are moving across borders. Increasingly, it seems as if this is not a jobless recovery but a domestic jobless recovery.

 (MORRISTOWN) SSR has named Barry Ziering as its senior director for research and strategy. Ziering will manage the firm's research and portfolio analytics group and serve on its investment committee. Previously, he was director of investor services at the firm. He has been at SSR since 2002. Prior to that, he was a vice president at Prudential Real Estate Investors.
 

STAUBACH CO.
(NEW YORK CITY) James Wenk has been promoted to director of the corporate-services division. In his new role, Wenk will oversee business development, financial analysis, market research and transactional support. Wenk joined Staubach in 1999.
 

SENIOR LIFESTYLE CORP.
 (CHICAGO) Daniel Storer has been named chief financial and administration officer at this seniors-housing development firm. Storer will manage a variety of departments at the firm, including accounting and finance, risk management and information technology. He was most recently a senior vice president and managing director at Key Corporate Capital Inc.
 

NBS REAL ESTATE CAPITAL
(PORTLAND) NBS has appointed Justin Dennett as a vice president in its Bellevue, WA office. Dennett was most recently manager of investment services at Unico Properties. At NBS, Dennett will run Morrison Street Fund I LP and develop investment strategies for the company at large.
  COLLIERS SEELEY INVESTMENT GROUP
 (LOS ANGELES) William J. DuBrowa and Allen Afshar have joined the firm as senior vice presidents. Both executives will manage multifamily investments. DuBrowa was most recently a senior vice president at Grubb & Ellis; he has also held senior positions at Sperry Van Ness and Bruin Associates. Afshar also joins Colliers Seeley from Grubb & Ellis, where he was a vice president. He has also served as a vice president at Charles Dunn Co.
