A pedestrian bridge connecting the Colorado Convention Center Garage to the Arts Complex also opened. The garage entrance is located on northbound Speer Boulevard between Stout and Champa Streets. A right-hand access lane from Speer allows easy access to the new parking entrance. Traffic exiting the garage will flow onto Champa Street westbound to Speer.
Regular day rates are $7, $5 for "early bird parking" before 9 a.m. and $8 for events. The rates are comparable to the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
"Some of the amenities will include customer service carts, onsite security and parking staff to assist with special parking needs," says John Adams, general manager of the Colorado Convention Center. "The garage location will make parking easier for people who live, work and find recreation in downtown Denver."
The addition of the pedestrian bridge connecting the Colorado Convention Center with the Denver Performing Arts Complex solves the problem of locating overflow parking when the Arts Complex Garage is full. The bridge meets the Arts Complex between the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre and Boettcher Concert Hall.
The nine performance venues inside the Arts Complex often have more than one event taking place on any given day or night, filling the Arts Complex's parking facility. Patrons now have the option of parking in the Colorado Convention Center Garage and simply walking over the bridge to see a show.
The space formerly known as the Pavilion connecting the two venues has been eliminated, and Boettcher Concert Hall has been extended to provide increased lobby space and new, large women's and men's restrooms. The extension of Boettcher's lobby area is projected to be finished by today.
