Hubbard says the bakery has signed a lease for 112,374 sf of a 372,500-sf building recently completed by Robertson Properties Group, a Los Angeles-based development and investment company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but industry sources believe the bakery signed a seven-year lease valued at more than $4 million.

Hubbard, who represented Bimbo Bakeries and Robertson, tells GlobeSt.com that one of the primary factors in Bimbo's move to the new warehouse was its desire for a distribution center near its bakery in Montebello. It was also important, he says, for the bakery to be able to move into the new building quickly and to obtain some special tenant improvements, including custom flooring to accommodate special warehouse equipment used by Bimbo. Robertson accommodated the baking firm on both requirements, and Bimbo is now in the space and operating, Hubbard says.

Pacific Gateway Business Park is a 550,000-sf, master-planned development bordering both the Commerce/Vernon submarket and other submarkets in the San Gabriel Valley and Mid-Counties areas. Completed in 2001, the park consists of two buildings. One is the 372,500-sf facility that is partially leased to Bimbo Bakeries and Total Warehousing, with 92,000 sf of available space remaining. The other is a 177,000-sf building. Hubbard says proposals are out with prospective tenants for the remaining space in both of the buildings. Hubbard and Tom Taylor, also of Colliers Seeley International's Commerce office, are the listing agents for the property.

Bimbo Bakeries USA is the US subsidiary of Grupo Bimbo, one of the world's largest baking companies and a publicly held company on the Mexican Stock Exchange.
