The move expands Snyder Langston's core business by adding small-scale projects to the mix, according to Stephen Jones, president of Snyder Langston, who says his firm has formed a new entity called Snyder Langston Optym that will specialize in new construction, tenant improvements and renovations for clients whose budgets range from $300,000 to $3 million. The new entity allows us to bring a level of expertise typically reserved for large-scale projects to smaller assignments, Jones says. He notes that he's known Michael Valentine, the founder of DMK, for a number of years and the two share similar philosophies regarding the business. DMK's 14 employees, including Valentine, will join Snyder Langston Optym by years end, with. Valentine as principal of the new entity.
Snyder Langston, founded in 1959, provides an array of preconstruction and construction services that include strategic real estate planning, feasibility analysis, land purchase and entitlements, government negotiations, design management, development management and financing services. The company operates in five main building groups: office, industrial, retail, institutional and specialty. Among its recently completed projects in Southern California are the 312,609-sf Pike at Rainbow Harbor retail development, a $59 million project for Cleveland-based Developers Diversified Realty; and the $65 million renovation and restoration of the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach. The Pike development is a waterfront retail complex that is one of Southern California's largest seaside dining, shopping and entertainment facilities. Long Beach officials have been counting on it as the linchpin of an extensive revitalization of the city's central core and the 320-acre Queensway Bay master plan. The two-phase reconstruction of the historic Balboa Bay Club was completed by Snyder Langston for Newport Beach-based International Bay Clubs Inc.
