During the first phase, Ginsburg Development will build 490 housing units, including 17 affordable units and a 14,000-sf club facility. The new club will include a social hall, state-of-the-art gym, outdoor pool and spa area offering hotel-style services, Ginsburg officials note.
"Despite abnormally harsh late autumn weather, the vision that we and the Village of Haverstraw share for the Harbors at Haverstraw is coming to fruition," says Martin Ginsburg, principal of Ginsburg Development Corp.
The clearing operations will be followed by site preparatory work. The pouring of foundations on the first units is scheduled for March 2004, according to Bartolone. The sales center is under construction and will be open in May 2004. Along with the construction of the housing units and club facility, the first phase will also feature the construction of the first leg of what will ultimately be a two-mile public river walk that will run along the Hudson River shoreline.
The Harbors at Haverstraw project will be built in phases and when completed will occupy three peninsulas of land--the old Rockland Fuel site--with 850 units, the river walk and several parks. The project will be finished over a 10-year period.
